LUCY BURDETTE: In Key West in the winter, we get lots of houseguests (no surprise!) Suppose you’re looking for something special to serve your visitors for breakfast? Over a year ago, I made some blue cornmeal pancakes that were to die for (she said modestly.) But when I went back to look at the recipe, […]
WELCOME TO LUCY BURDETTE’S WEBSITE
Hooray, you’ve found your way to the home of the Key West food critic mysteries, cozy mysteries written by Lucy Burdette! Lucy is the pen name for clinical psychologist Roberta Isleib, author of the golf lovers mystery series and the advice column mysteries–and they are both me.
You can also find me, Lucy, every Thursday talking food with the fun-loving crowd of culinary cozy mystery writers at Mystery Lovers Kitchen, and almost every day, talking everything else with the crime fiction writers of Jungle Red Writers. And I spend more time than I should on Facebook and Twitter–come join me. And I do love Pinterest:). My board called “Key West–the character” will give you tons of insight into how the island plays into the books.
FATAL RESERVATIONS, book six in the food critic series hit bookshelves on July 7. You can order it now! (KILLER TAKEOUT coming next spring…)
Book five in the series, DEATH WITH ALL THE TRIMMINGS, was out on December 2. You can order it here.
Here’s what the Booklist review had to say: Burdette infuses the mystery with Key West spirit and holiday fun along with delicious food references and recipes. This strong series continues a unique blend of island mayhem and sparkling characters surrounding a layered mystery.
So grab your copy, then settle in with a snack (you’ll need one!) and follow Hayley Snow’s adventures in the tropical paradise of Key West. You’ll find the “buy the books” link at the top of the page, but basically they are available wherever books are sold.
And please, drop me a line–I love to hear from readers–and I’m grateful for your support!

John and I are trying to make a commitment to cleaning out some of our “stuff.” Drawers crammed full of stuff. Closets filled with things I’ll never wear–you get the picture. So when our daughter was last home, I had her go through my tangle of jewelry to see if there was anything she’d like […]

LUCY BURDETTE: Since the mayhem of the holidays has finally subsided, I can turn my thoughts to the new year, wondering what I’ll write and how I’ll get it done. First of all, I always have doubts! Every book. KILLER TAKEOUT will be my fifteenth published book and I still get stuck every time in […]
LUCY BURDETTE: In October, my husband went on a dream trip —playing golf in Scotland with his three brothers and four other childhood friends. (Aren’t they so cute?) They had an amazing time, and he came home with small packages of Walker’s shortbread cookies, which they found at every hotel and B and B… . […]
This recipe was tweaked from one filed by Martha Rose Shulman in the New York Times. I made her version and then revised for my second attempt, which we modestly judged delicious. The recipe is quite flexible and can absorb about any vegetables you have lying around. You’ll notice that I added no salt, though […]
